About
Thirteen years of backend and integration work, in the order it happened.
I am a senior software engineer and technical lead based in Thessaloniki. For the last several years I have led the PHP team at Triparound, building the microservices platform behind a SaaS product for the travel and hospitality industry.
The through-line across every role has been integration: Oracle SOA and a utility's CRM, Siebel behind a Liferay portal, a real-time analytics pipeline moving millions of events a day, and now a set of services that have to agree with each other across a cloud platform. The systems change, the problem does not — two things that were never designed to talk to each other now have to, reliably, and someone has to decide what happens when one of them is down.
I came to it sideways. My first degree was in business administration at Aristotle University, and the switch to engineering happened through an MSc in Web Technologies at Bradford. That order turns out to be useful more often than it sounds: a lot of architecture arguments are really arguments about what the business is willing to pay for, and it helps to be able to have both halves of that conversation.
Lately most of my own time goes on Laravel packages for Azure services — a Service Bus connector, a Storage Queue driver and a Table Storage cache driver, all MIT licensed. They exist because I needed them and the alternatives were heavier than the job warranted.
